Infor CSI (Syteline) - Features & Options
With the creation of Infor Configure Price Quote (CPQ), the Features and Options Product Configurator has taken a backseat for managing the larger scale configured products. However, the Features and Options Configurator is still a powerful tool that can handle configuration without integration.
Deciding if Features and Options will work for your configured product will first require looking at the product and determining whether it is actually configured or if it is handled with a process. Using Features and Options on an order requires selecting specific items (options) from a group (features). Therefore, each option needs to have an item associated with it. An example of a configuration that may be troublesome would be an assembly with different rod length options. Each rod length option would require its own item. This may not be the desired set-up and would require including the length in the top-level assembly and adjusting the Rod length in the Bill of materials. Too many of these and your item ID or item description may get too lengthy. Having clear options tied to items is the best case for using the Features and Options Configurator
After Deciding that the Features and Options Configurator will work with your product, the next step is to map out the groups of features and their available options. Mapping out each product will make the setup in CSI much easier. Each configurable feature will need a place in the configuration string for the assembly. Each Feature option requires a unique identifier code. It is ideal to keep these codes as short as possible, although up to 3 alpha-numeric characters are allowed, as larger configurations with more features can get very long. See Below for an example of a product options mapping.

Once the Mapping is complete, the setup can be performed in CSI. This will require setting up the feature groups, Feature group qualifiers (options), and applying feature group ranks (required for sub-planning). Next, create all inventory items needed for the assembly and Bill of materials. You are then able to build the BOM and apply the features and option codes, where applicable. With the Setup complete, you are ready to enter and process configured Orders and Estimates. Order Entry will look something like this:
