Infographic: Epicor System Upgrade, or Reimplementation?

 Epicor System Upgrade vs. Reimplementation

There are a lot of benefits to upgrading your current Epicor system to the new Epicor version 10. We’ve actually covered those previously, and are quite confident that Epicor does as good of a job as anyone selling the benefits of doing so. However, what we often find many struggle with is the idea of upgrading or reimplementing the Epicor system.

Our founder, Bryan Sapot, recently recorded a video that goes into greater detail regarding this decision. We find that many logically assume that they can simply upgrade from a previous version to version 10. This is not wholly the case. The infographic along with our material above should give you a better idea of the data you’ll need to evaluate in order to effectively make your choice.

Drilling down the questions

1.) What version will you be upgrading Epicor system from? The current version of Epicor  – 9.05 –  is straight forward unless your firm needs numerous customizations, bpms, and reports. If you have clean data and you feel good about moving to Epicor 10, there’s a good chance you’re in good shape.

2.) How happy are you with your current data? If you are considering cleaning up your data and eliminating dual entries this is a great time to do so. As a part of the re-engineering portion, companies are able to rethink their data structures (Customer and Vendor Schemas, Chart of Accounts, etc.), re-train employees, and standardize processes. They are also able to cleanse their data prior to uploading it to the new system. With a re-implementation reconciliation of old data is not go-live necessary because it is stored separately from your new system.

3.) Do you have a lot of Epicor system customizations? The current version of Epicor system is straight forward unless your firm needs numerous customizations, bpms, and reports. If you have clean data and you feel good about moving to Epicor 10, there’s a good chance you’re in good shape. If you have customizations in those particular areas, there’s a good chance you may want to consider a reimplementation to ensure a clean transfer of data.
