New ERP Advancements

Last week, members of the Datix team attended Epicor Insights 2018 to display our Unity integration solutions and meet with Epicor users. Datix CEO Matt Schuval explains why this was such an important occasion for our consulting firm: “This year’s conference marked the first time that Epicor opened its doors to a selection of its premier partners to showcase their products. We’re honored to have the opportunity to show the user community how they can generate more ROI, become global powerhouses and improve customer experiences with our Unity and Unity X integrations.”

In addition to showing Epicor users how to get even more from their ERP instances, we returned with exciting insight into Epicor’s plans for future development. Here’s a brief rundown of our biggest takeaways from the conference:

Epicor Kinetic Design

A robust user experience is one of the top concerns among prospective ERP users. Epicor has continuously worked to provide optimal user experiences, particularly with its new home page in version 10.2 of its ERP solution. At Insights, the vendor announced further improvements with the unveiling of Epicor Kinetic Design, a three-pronged cross-platform user experience (UX) platform. The new solution consists of Epicor Kinetic Design, Epicor Kinetic Framework and Epicor Kinetic applications.

Epicor Kinetic Design consists of new UX guidelines for building applications for Epicor solutions. By offering a cohesive color scheme, page layouts, user interface (UI) elements and other design features, Epicor Kinetic Design enables partners to create user-friendly, value-added solutions that align with Epicor best practices. Epicor Kinetic Framework is a website available to Epicor partners and customers with sample code, tutorials, API documentation and more tools that work on any device. At Insights, attendees had the opportunity to watch demos to learn how to build Kinetic applications that use Kinetic Design standards. This new development serves to heighten Epicor’s focus on improving user experiences.

Microsoft Azure

With three-quarters of prospective Epicor users seeking cloud solutions, the ERP vendor decided to take its cloud platform to the next level by partnering with Microsoft. Epicor will standardize cloud deployment of its Epicor ERP and Prophet 21 solutions on Microsoft Azure, the most robust and dependable cloud platform on the market. As we explained in a recent post, this partnership will also enable Epicor to leverage cutting-edge Azure tools, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), to power customer-centric manufacturing and distribution and increase productivity.

Distribution Solutions

Expect Epicor distribution solutions to be stronger than ever. Prophet 21’s new data analysis module, XL Connect 7, functions within Microsoft Excel to provide greater flexibility and offer real-time connectivity to all Prophet 21 data. Drill-down capabilities enhance insight into data, and users have access to interactive reports on any mobile device. Solar screens have been added to Epicor Eclipse’s Product Data Warehouse to improve user experiences. Epicor Eclipse users will also have access to Epicor Data Analytics (EDA), a business intelligence (BI) tool that offers 360-degree insight to encourage smarter decision-making.

Wrap Up

All of these improvements are part of Epicor’s sweeping goals for building the future of enterprise resource planning. Epicor CEO Steve Murphy emphasized the importance of easily accessing data when he presented at Insights. Epicor’s latest announcements verify its dedication to improve user experiences and take advantage of innovations such as cloud computing, predictive analytics and machine learning to ensure clients get the most from their enterprise data.

“One of our goals as a consulting firm is to be the best with the best,” states Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, Candice Evertowski. “Epicor continuously develops its ERP solutions, and as an Epicor Platinum Partner, Datix is also committed to constant innovation and improvement.”

Datix has proven this commitment with its Unity integration solutions. Unity is Datix’s flagship integration product designed to connect Epicor with an array of products including CRM and eCommerce to streamline operations. For global businesses, Datix also created Unity X to integrate Epicor with XE Currency Data API to automatically sync exchange rates from XE into the ERP solution.
